Once you've integrated Booking.com channel management for your MyVR account, MyVR can automatically keep your listing rates and availability up-to-date, as well as pull any reservation requests made on Booking.com directly into your MyVR account. MyVR saves you the time and hassle of updating multiple listing sites, while also ensuring your listing's information is up to date.

Because this integration allows you to route your reservations into your centralized MyVR reservation system, you can apply MyVR's powerful software tools on any business coming in from this channel - such as auto-responders, our low credit card processing rates, and our automated renter communications.

Below we outline how various items work when using Booking.com channel management:

Listing Ownership You own and manage your own listings at Booking.com. Listings are yours to do with as you please, and you can assign MyVR as the manager of your listing to keep data synchronized.
Listing Management You can update your rates and calendar availability directly in MyVR, which will in turn update your Booking.com listings for you automatically. MyVR will keep your rates and availability synchronized.
Listing Purchases / Commissions It's free to list on Booking.com, although you are charged a commission on any booking received from the channel. The commission you're charged is calculated as a percentage of the total rental amount and varies based on a number of factors. Listing Support Questions Questions about your listing can be made directly with Booking.com's customer support team.
Renter Transactions & Bank Transfers Transactions are processed through your MyVR-integrated merchant account (and not by Booking.com) and the money is transferred to your bank account according to the normal process (as few as two days in the U.S.).
Alerts & Notifications You can set up reservation notifications via email and text from within your MyVR account.

Information is pushed/pulled to/from your listing at different intervals which depend upon the frequency offered by the channel partner.  Following is a summary of the information that is synced between MyVR's software and Booking.com listings via this integration:

Calendar MyVR pushes calendar availability to Booking.com in real-time when changes are made, and we push again nightly as a back-up.
Rates MyVR pushes rate and fee information to Booking.com in real-time when changes are made, and we push again nightly as a back-up.
Property Data (photos, descriptions, etc) Property information is managed at Booking.com.
Inquiries Booking.com does not process inquiries, only instant bookings.
Instant Bookings Booking requests are automatically accepted for available dates on your calendar. Renter payment details, including credit card information, is transmitted from Booking.com to your MyVR account for processing.

Should I Integrate?

The value one gets from channel management increases as you add more marketing channels or more properties, because the main benefit is automating a lot of manual work and reducing the likelihood of errors, such as inaccurate calendars and double bookings. Many larger clients couldn't survive without it, but many small clients also benefit greatly from the time savings and improved performance and professionalism. Of course, this offering isn’t right for everyone, and a single property owner who advertises on one single channel doesn't have the same needs as a manager with 15 properties advertising across multiple channels.

It’s best to weigh the decision for yourself before adding channel management to your operations. To help you decide, following is a brief summary of the pros and cons for this channel, as they have been relayed to us by our customers:

  • There is no upfront fee to advertise on Booking.com.
  • Keep your rates and calendar synced across all channels automatically.
  • No longer manually update several calendars in several places.
  • Manage your reservations from multiple channels in a centralized place at MyVR.
  • You have your own login at Booking.com to manage your account if you like.
  • Booking.com only accepts immediate bookings without the ability for you to review or decline.
  • Reservations made on Booking.com must be honored. They cannot be canceled or declined (unless there is a payment failure) without financial penalty.
  • All modifications/cancellation of Booking.com reservations must be initiated by the renter on Booking.com.
  • Any issue with the reservation that cannot be resolved by a modification will require you to contact Booking.com customer service.
  • All property information is managed at Booking.com. If you manage more than 20 listings, you can optionally request a manual import of property data from a spreadsheet, which MyVR can help you generate using your MyVR property data.
  • If you manage less than 20 or fewer listings on Booking.com, property data (except for rates and availability) must be manually entered in your Booking.com account.
  • Our ability to sync your data to your listings relies upon the successful functioning of our partner’s API (while they are typically very reliable, you shouldn't expect them to work perfectly, 100% of the time).

There is no upfront fee to advertise your properties on Booking.com. There is, however, a commission collected on all bookings sourced by Booking.com. The commission is calculated off of the total rental amount, less any refund fees (such as a security deposit). How to Integrate

Start by signing up for a Booking.com account. Once signed up, you'll need to select MyVR as a "provider" for your account. Selecting MyVR as a provider allows MyVR to keep your listing rates and availability synchronized with your MyVR account and import your reservations directly into MyVR's reservation management system.

Fewer Than 20 Listings

As an account holder with fewer than 20 listings on Booking.com, you'll need to manually enter information for each property you wish to list. You will not be charged to list a property on Booking.com.

20+ Listings

As an account holder with 20+ listings on Booking.com, you'll have the option to manually enter information for each property on Booking.com or have your property data imported from a spreadsheet. MyVR can help you generate a property import spreadsheet for Booking.com using your MyVR property data. You will not be charged to list a property on Booking.com.

Once you've setup your Booking.com listings, ensure your listings are connected to the MyVR properties they represent. Head to the My Channels section within the MyVR product and associated the properties with your Booking.com listings.
